The community is conveniently located near the intersection of U.S. Highway 18/122 and Interstate 35, approximately 120 miles from Minneapolis to the north and Des Moines to the south. It's varied transportation base, which includes a regional airport and railroad lines, supports a diverse economic base. Clear Lake is home to manufacturing, retailing, agricultural and retail operations.

Clear Lake and Ventura schools are among the best in the state. Clear Lake offers 3 elementary schools, a middle school and a high school. There are approximately 1,100 students in Clear Lake schools grades kindergarten to 12. At the other end of the lake, Ventura serves approximately 350 students K-12.
